This is the link to my AMA (Ask Me Anything) at Esports Vodafone. They intervewed me with many surprises, like a question from the creator of Wonder Boy, one of the games that inspired me to become a Game Designer!

While we were at the Oculus Connect 4, presenting our Red Matter game, we had the chance to show John Carmack our first game for Gear VR: ‘Daedalus‘.

He had fun playing it and we were thrilled. But what we couldn’t expect is that he chose Daedalus to feature it in one of his public critique posts. We are really happy about his feedback!

“At OC4, one of the VR apps presented for my review session was Daedalus. It was described as a “platformer”, and I said “great, I like platformers”.

I played through the first couple training segments on stage, giving some of my common feedback, but what was noteworthy was that I didn’t want to quit – I had to make myself stop to get on to the rest of the slate lined up.

Last week I got the full game, and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire thing.”

Finally we were able to announce the project we have been working on!

Red Matter is a story-driven VR puzzle adventure game set during a dystopian Sci-Fi Cold War. Take on the role of Agent Epsilon, an astronaut of the Atlantic Union dispatched to an abandoned Volgravian moon base on a frozen, faraway planet. Your mission: to investigate a shady top secret research project. As the adventure progresses, paranoia sets in. You’re no longer sure who you really are or who you’re working for. Use an array of hi-tech tools to decipher hidden messages and mechanisms and uncover ever deeper and darker secrets of the facility. But beware of what you may find… Once you discover the truth, will you be able to stomach it?

Regarding the setting, I have to admit that I’ve always had a fascination with the Cold War. I’ve been reading a lot about that period of time, trying to understand what was happening on both sides of the wall. I wanted to set the game in a dystopian future to have the freedom of adding technology, countries and situations but not attached to real History.

Some more recent influences to create this setting were “The Americans” TV series or the movies “The Lives of Others” and “Citizen X“, that I strongly recommend if you haven’t seen them. And a very good board game about the Cold War: “The Twilight Struggle“.

On future posts I will detail the design process I’ve been following, and some experiments I want to run. For example, I’ve run a pen and paper adventure to roleplay the story of the game with some friends. What I wanted to do was testing the strength of the story and find new unexpected ideas.

I was invited by Gisela Vaquero to be part of the second Women in Games event held in Madrid at the Google Campus.

I spoke about the challenges that Game Designers face in VR Game Design.

It was a pleasure to share the stage with those amazing ladies of the gaming industry!

Starting a new adventure

Posted: October 1, 2016 in Professional, VR

Apenas me atrevo a llamarlo industria.
¡¡¡SOY INDIE!!!
